Pest Control FAQs
Cost, safety, preparation, follow-up and coverage, the questions we are actually asked.
Is Lulu Pest Control approved by Dubai Municipality?
Yes. We are approved by Dubai Municipality and by Sharjah Municipality, and have been operating under those approvals since 2005. [Certificate numbers to be supplied by the client and added to the certifications page.]
Do you charge for the inspection?
No. The inspection is complimentary. A technician identifies the species, finds where it is harbouring and how it is getting in, and tells you what treatment is appropriate before anything is quoted.
Is the treatment safe around children and pets?
The products we use are municipality-approved and applied at label rates by trained technicians. Where a room can be treated with gel bait rather than spray we use gel, because it puts the product where the pest is instead of across the surfaces people touch. The technician will tell you how long to stay out of a treated room and what to wipe down before use.
Is a follow-up visit included?
Follow-up treatment is part of how we work rather than an upsell. For bed bugs in particular a second visit is planned from the start, because eggs laid before the first treatment hatch after it.
How much does pest control cost in Dubai?
It depends on the pest, the size of the property and whether it is a one-off treatment or annual cover, which is why we inspect first and quote after. [Indicative price ranges to be supplied by the client.]
Which emirates do you cover?
Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah, from offices in Hor Al Anz, Deira and in Al Nassriya, Sharjah.
Can you come out the same day?
Often, yes, same-day call-out is one of the things we are set up for. Call the hotline and we will tell you honestly what is available today rather than book you in and miss it.
How do I prepare my kitchen for a cockroach treatment?
Empty the cupboards under the sink and around the cooker so the technician can reach the voids and hinges where gel bait goes, clear food off open surfaces, and leave the bin emptied. The technician will tell you when the kitchen can go back into use.
Why do I still see cockroaches after the treatment?
For a few days after gel baiting you may see more, not fewer, the bait draws them out of the voids before it works. What matters is whether you are still seeing them a fortnight later. If you are, call us and we will come back.
Do I have to throw away my mattress after bed bugs?
Usually not. A mattress is treatable, and the bugs are as likely to be in the frame, the headboard and the skirting as in the mattress itself. Replacing the mattress without treating the room re-infests the new one.
What do I need to do before a bed bug treatment?
Strip the beds and wash the bedding at the hottest wash the fabric allows, clear the floor around the beds, and do not move belongings into another room, that is how a one-room problem becomes a whole-flat problem. The technician will confirm the rest on the day.
How do I know if I have termites?
Mud tubes on a wall or a skirting board, timber that sounds hollow, a door frame that has started to give, or discarded wings near a window after a warm evening. By the time damage is visible the colony has usually been there a while.
Do you provide documentation for Dubai Municipality inspections?
Yes. For commercial clients we provide inspections, assessments, vendor audits and reports for both Dubai Municipality and Sharjah Municipality, which is what most food premises are asked for at inspection.
Do you work outside business hours for restaurants?
Food premises are normally treated outside service hours, and we plan the visit around your trading times rather than ours.
What is an annual pest control contract?
We provide yearly annual maintenance contracts (AMC) for hotels, bars, restaurants and cafés, offices, supermarkets, malls, hospitals, schools, colleges, universities, factories, warehouses, boats, ships, buildings and villas.
